If you’re tired of your wrinkles, crow’s feet, or heavy eyelids, you may have looked into the idea of getting Botox to help improve those areas. Botox is one of the most popular injectable that we perform at Lazer Lounge, and our clients absolutely love the results. Botox treatment works by blocking signals from the nerves to the muscles which cause the wrinkles to relax and soften. If you do decide to try Botox, there are some important after-care steps to follow in order to make sure that everything goes as smoothly as possible. Here’s our complete guide to Botox after-care to make sure you get the results you want!
Don’t Rub Your Face!
The first and most important step for Botox after-care is to avoid rubbing your face for about four hours. You need to be very mindful of this, because as humans, we touch our face 2000-3000 times a day! It’s crazy to think about, but it’s true.

After your treatment, be aware of this and avoid it as much as possible. Rubbing your face may cause Botox to move around to unintended areas.
No Heavy Exercise
Light exercise like walking and jogging are fine, but you should avoid any heavy and strenuous exercise for a few days after your procedure. This means no heavy lifting or running.
Sleep Carefully
One of the more important steps in Botox after-care is to avoid sleeping directly on your face or the treated area. Sleeping on the treated area can cause the Botox to move around to unintended areas, which can cause complications in your results.

We recommend sitting upright for at least four hours after your treatment, as well as avoiding sleeping on your face for the first night.
Lie Down With Caution
As mentioned above, you’ll want to avoid putting yourself in positions that can cause the botox to move around to unintended areas. We recommend waiting at least four hours before lying down after your treatment.
Say “No” To Heat
Many of our clients ask us if they will be able to tan or visit the sauna after their treatment. Because heat can increase the potential for bruising on the injection sites on your face, we recommend waiting at least 24 hours before doing any activities that involve heat. This means avoiding tanning, saunas, hot tubs, hot showers, and hot baths. Sorry!
Avoid Makeup
As mentioned earlier, one of the essential aspects of Botox after-care is to avoid rubbing your face. Because of this, we recommend trying to avoid makeup for approximately four hours after your treatment. If makeup is an absolute must, we recommend a mineral-based makeup.
If you are going to be wearing makeup, make sure to apply as little pressure as possible. Again, the pressure can cause the Botox to travel to unintended areas.
Painkillers
It’s very rare, but some people may feel slight pain after their Botox treatment. If this is the case, painkillers are fine to use—however, we recommend consulting with us first. It’s possible we may recommend a numbing cream instead of a painkiller.

Conclusion
The beauty of Botox treatments is that for the most part, you’re able to go back to your daily routine. Making sure that your treatment goes as smoothly as possible is the most important thing for us. After our procedures, we will go over Botox after-care with every client to ensure they know the do’s and don’ts.
